Introduction
Welcome to the Arts and Culture Strategic Review (ACSR) public consultation portal!
The ACSR was initiated by the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Arts
(MICA) in 2010 and aims to chart Singapore’s next phase of cultural development
until 2025. This review would also aim for twice as many Singaporeans – from 40%
to 80% – to attend and benefit from at least one arts and culture event a year
by 2025, and to encourage Singaporeans’ active engagement in arts and culture activities,
up from the current 20% to 50% by 2025. This could include taking up or volunteering for arts and heritage activities in their personal time.
A 19 member-strong Steering Committee was formed in
September 2010 to drive the ACSR, supported by four Working Committees. Led by the
private and people sectors, these committees involved a total of 70 representatives
across all key stakeholder groups.
The preliminary recommendations of the ACSR Committees are now available
for you to view and comment on, between 11 August 2011 and 10 September 2011. Alternatively,
you may also wish to download a copy of the recommendations
and provide your feedback on this portal at your own convenience. All feedback generated
from this portal will be reviewed and considered holistically by the ACSR Committees,
together with the feedback from other channels (such as focus group discussions
conducted in May 2011, and quantitative surveys planned for August/September 2011).
We look forward to partnering with you to shape the future of Singapore’s arts and
culture landscape.
